Today, we welcome a guest blog from our friends at the American Red Cross.

On May 23, the American Red Cross kicked off its 100 Days of Summer; 100 Days of Hope summer appeal. The Red Cross is urging everyone to help people facing emergency situations this summer by giving blood, making a financial gift, or taking a lifesaving safety class. Red Cross wants to remind people that this summer is a time when they can give hope to those who are suffering.

Each year, more than 9 million people gain the skills they need to prepare for and respond to emergencies through American Red Cross training classes. Classes such as First Aid and CPR are available to give everyone the information, skills, and confidence to act in an emergency at home, in school, or at their workplace. Learn how to provide immediate care in first aid emergencies by registering to take a class and be better prepared to help save lives throughout the entire year.

Life happens and so do accidents. In addition to training classes, the Red Cross has released mobile apps, available through your phone carrier’s app store, to put important preparedness information right into the palm of your hand. Our mobile apps can help you monitor weather conditions in your area, provide you with tips to prepare your family and home for a disaster, and give you information to find help and to let others know you are OK. Download them directly from the iTunes or Google Play app stores by searching for American Red Cross. Find more mobile app information here.

American Red Cross also offers a first-of-its-kind free membership program designed to help businesses, organizations, and schools become better prepared for emergencies. All in one place, Ready Rating program members have access to one-of-a-kind tools, resources, and information for evaluating and improving their ability to withstand disaster, maintain operations, and protect lives and property. Learn more about how to engage your business, school or an organization in the Ready Rating program.
